The 30 day blogging challenge….ready, set, BEGIN!

I have been pretty quiet for the last month, as I’ve been extremely busy playing catchup since my last MS episode….but today is a new day. 🙂

I met my with my Functional Doctor, Dr Hutton, who I’m so thrilled to be working with, yesterday. He had told me a while back that he wanted me to start the Ketogenic diet, and we made a game plan yesterday when we met.

I start TODAY and I’m going to blogging my through my journey with the Ketogenic diet for the next 30 days! I hope you all will join me, ask questions and even keep me accountable!

The food plan he gave me is called the “Mito food plan” in the functional medicine world, apparently, but it is so extremely similar in style and concept to the Ketogenic diet that I will probably continue to refer to it as such, to avoid confusion.

He took my measurements and weight yesterday (always such a ball ;)) and we determined I could stand to lose a few pounds. Especially after my last round of steroids where I packed on a few pounds, for sure!

The plan is:

  • Lose 10 lbs
  • Daily- 30 grams or carbs (or less), 50 grams of protein, 100 grams of fat.

The TRUE goal of all this as an MS patient though is reduce inflammation and  reverse damage done to the mitochondria. I will hopefully be able to explain more about this in the days to come. I still have a lot to learn.

I’m a little nervous about learning how to get my body into a state of ketosis and all that is involved, but I’m excited too about the healing it will hopefully bring and the improvements I hope to see with my MS issues.

Off to make my bulletproof coffee for the day! See you tomorrow, with my next update!
